It is organized at the international level by the Modern Dragon Boat International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF). IDBT recognizes and sports racing, festival racing, and two types of dragon boat racing activities. The latter type of race is more to suit traditional dragon boats.
There are also some very long endurance events such as the Three Gorges Dam Rally which covers up to 100 kilometers and along the Yangtze of China. The Ord River Marathon in Australia covers 50 kilometers and is also a durable event approved IDBF.
Today, Dragon Boat is one of the fastest growing water sports teams with tens of thousands of organizations and club participants in 60 countries. Sports are recognized for the friendship, strength and endurance cultivated among the participants. It has also become a very popular company and charity sport.
