Thermal conduction


Except for most blue diamonds that are semiconductors, diamonds are good electrical insulators, meaning to reduce the flow of electricity. Blue diamond acts as a dopant and has semiconductivity to boron impurities that cause p-type semiconductor behavior. Diamond seems to be cold and hard, but it is a good conductor of heat because of the strong chemical bond in the crystal.

As far as we associate diamonds for their beauty and use them as gems, about 20% of all mined diamonds are jewelry quality. The rest are suitable only for industrial use.
