Southampton Castle
One of the chief ports of medieval England, Southampton holds a wealth of medieval domestic architecture. Its prosperous dark-age predecessor was abandoned in favor of the current site in the 10th century, and excavations make this new town wrong as a defense against the Danish
The circuit enclosed within a mile to a length surrounded a generally rectangular area. It had a number of fortresses, mostly semi-circular, and larger tower ar angles. Today, the only wall survives, along with parts of the north wall and a length near the southeast corner of the circuit. The tour of the wall may conveniently start with Bargate, the north entrance to the old town, and something very impressive. The front of the Machicoration is an addition of the early 15th century.
Behind it is the twin half round, a gate passage, a century or so old tower while retaining the Norman Archway from the old structure. In contrast to the fortified exterior, the side facing the town has a large window above the gate that illuminates the story. This spacious room saved the gatehouse from the destruction of the later centuries as a guildhall during medieval times and later civil use. It relieved the problem but was a major obstacle to traffic up to the 1930 bypass construction which resulted in the destruction of the stretch of the town wall on either side.
Beyond Burgate, the wall then leads to the old quay soutward, and to the west to the round Alan Delta Wa. Soon the circuit kink means a junction with the old castle wall. Southampton Castle was the royal fortress first mentioned in the 1189s. Richard I and John rebuilt that of the stone. The western curtain survives as a town wall, with a leading rear to the cellars from the castle's domestic buildings.
Sherborne Castle
It is called to distinguish it from the "new" castle. It is a large mansion originally built by Fort Walter Raleigh, but has been expanding ever since. Roger * de * Khan, Bishop of Salisbury, the most magnificent Pre Latte of his age, built an old castle. He lost his influence and wealth to support Empress Matilda against King Stephen, and despite the subsequent bishop's protests, the castle was for the next two centuries
In 1592, it was leased to Sir Walter Raleigh who began to modernize the castle before opting to build its successors nearby. The abandoned castle was reoccupied on behalf of the king during the Civil War. It was attacked by Fort Thomas-Fairfax after two weeks of siege and was neglected to prevent any further military use.
Similar to the fortifications of other Anglican palaces of the Norman era, Sherborne is composed of a residential quadrilateral surrounded by defensive Bailey. The outer Bailey covers a large octagonal area, or a rather rectangular area with deep grooves and curtains. The mural tower was an advanced feature for Bishop Roger's time, but there is not enough of them to line up a long curtain comprehensively.

There are three sides of the square, especially the northern range including the ornate chapel on top of the arched underground channel, but the opposite hole is probably fashionable E-West, the castle is to the bishop of Salisbury There is a second square basis added after returning.
